Mangaluru, Aug 9: To help Konkani producers and publishers and also to curb piracy, a unique first-of-its-kind e-store of Konkani albums and books - eManglo.com - was launched on Saturday August 8 at Don Bosco Hall here.
Remy D’Souza, CEO of eManglo.com welcomed the guests and briefed about the website. Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld, Yodeling King Melwyn Peris, Vekatesh Baliga, Lingappa Gowda and Alwin Noronha were present on this dais.
Jacqueline Fernandes, who was crowned 'Rani Kogull' in the fifth season of 'Soad' Konkani reality show, officially launched the e-store.
Addressing the gathering, Jacqueline said, "I feel happy that technology has been introduced into Konkani. When Soad competition was going on, it was very difficult for us to find Konkani songs online. It is an opportunity for people to learn Konkani through this e-store."
Walter Nandalike in his address advised Remy D’Souza not to lose heart even if response in the beginning was lukewarm. "The response may be less in the beginning and our own people may not come forward to support this initiative. Now you may have to run behind producers and musicians for their support, but in future they will come to you for your support. People might discourage you, but do not listen to them, just do your work. You have a great future and I am ready to support you," he told Remy D'Souza.
Arun Raj Rodriguess compered the ceremony. Louis Pinto, president on Mandd Sobhann, Richard John Pais and others were also present on the occasion.
After the launch ceremony, Kalakul troupe presented the Konkani drama 'Rewind' directed by Christopher D'Souza, Neenasam, which enthralled the audience.
About eManglo
Konkani CDs and books are now just a mouse click away. eManglo.com, Konkani's newest digital venture, is a web store much like Flickr or Amazon, where Konkani books and albums are stored for delivery. People can choose the products they want and pay through credit card, debit card, net banking or Paypal. The products will be delivered to their address. Within India, the products can reach within 2 - 5 days while outside India the time depends on the distance.
For NRI customers, the best way of payment is Paypal. NRIs with credit cards can first register themselves with paypal.com and use it to buy items on eManglo.com. For domestic customers, credit/debit/netbanking options are available. Cash-on-delivery for domestic customers will also be introduced by the end of this year.
Selling on eManglo is also very easy. Sellers can contact Remy D Souza (remy@eManglo.com) and send him cover picture of the product and other information. Once the product profile is created on the web store, they need to store the items in eManglo's store in Valencia. The regional co-ordinator for eManglo is Arunraj Rodrigues. When the items diminish to a certain number, the seller will be intimated to refill.
With its worldwide reach, eManglo.com will be a boon for both album producers, writers and Konkani lovers around the world. eManglo will start taking orders from August 15.
