'Srimanthudu' crosses Rs.50 crore in opening weekend


Chennai, Aug 10 (IANS): Superstar Mahesh Babu-starrer Telugu family drama "Srimanthudu" has approximately grossed over Rs.50 crore in its opening weekend worldwide.

"The opening weekend numbers could be anywhere between Rs.50 crore and Rs.60 crore. The exact numbers are awaited. On release day, the film raked in a whopping Rs.31 crore," trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

Directed by Koratala Siva, the film features an ensemble cast of Shruti Haasan, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Sampath Raj, Sukanya and Harish Uthaman in important roles.

The film is about about a multi-millionaire, who decides to adopt a village, and the challenges he faces in the process.

As on Monday, the film has crossed the $2 million mark at the US box office.
