New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS): The home ministry has announced a competition for designing the logo for the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project.

Under the CCTNS, the process of crime registration, investigation and prosecution in over 20,000 police stations and higher offices across the country is being computerised, which would enable electronic sharing of crime-related information among various states and central agencies, a release here said on Monday.

"The digital police portal is also being designed to provide online citizen centric services such as report a crime, reporting lost property, reporting of cyber crime, police verification services, information pertaining to citizen rights, free legal services and many more such features," it said.

The CCTNS, once fully implemented, would significantly enhance the effectiveness of police in investigating cases and directly benefit citizens.

This open-for-all logo competition would enhance citizen awareness about this initiative. At the same time, the logo would be used nationally for CCTNS on websites, social and print media, it added.

The last date for submission of entries is August 31. The winner will get a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh.
