Kuwait, Jun 11: On a serene Friday, June 8, the parishioners of Belman Welfare Association Kuwait in union with family and friends joyfully celebrated the feast of St. Joseph, Patron Saint of Belman Parish.

BELWAK, true to its motto, unwaveringly toils to serve the poor and the needy; it provides aid to the poor in the field of education. In her introductory message, Vice President Jessie D’Cruz, expressed delight at staging this celebration and briefly outlined the events to follow.

Honourable Chief Guest Fr. Melwin D’Cunha and Guest of Honour  Dr. Aravind Rao were welcomed by President Clifford D’Souza. Notable sponsors Tony D’Cruz, Chris D’Souza and Danika Monterio, Baby Venessa and Veanna Pinto, Lawrance Pinto, Al Baghli Sponge Mfg. Co., Adel Malla, Maas Cargo, Mario Fernandes, Jerry Mendonca and  Helen D’Souza were thanked by President Clifford on behalf of BELWAK for their support.

Thereafter, BELWAK’s Committee Members joined Chief Guest Fr. Melwin D’Cunha and Guest of Honour Dr. Aravind Rao in the cake cutting ceremony to commemorate the feast of St. Joseph. Fr. Melwin commended the association for its effort in helping the poor children in the field of education.  He wished BELWAK Success in all their future endeavors.

BELWAK’s youthful Secretary, Priya D’Souza read the annual report and recalled to mind its glorious past. She also dwelt upon BELWAK’s charitable service and activities since inception.

On the feast day, each year, BELWAK honours men and women who have rendered outstanding community service. This day, Dr. Aravind Rao, MBBS, MD, MRC Pathology, hailing from Palimar, Belman was felicitated for his commendable service to the sick and the needy brethren in the State of Kuwait. He emulates his late father Dr. Harish Chandra Upadyaya Palimar, popularly known as Dr.  Hari Bhat.









There was entertainment in abundance, DJ entertainment galore on the feast day. Hilarious Konkani Skit ‘Bus Conductor’ by Ida Lobo, Lancy D’Souza and Maxim Nazareth drew thunderous applause. Dance by Leann, Moira, Anisha, Johnson, Ryan, Roston, Asha, & Jane thrilled the gathering. Baby Venissa’s belly dance was a delight to watch. Lolita Rodrigues & Allan Pinto sang melodious Hindi and English numbers. Apart from all these events, Games and Spot Prizes conducted by Cultural Secretary Rita Rodrigues were exciting.

Delhi Darbar catered delicious lunch (mangalorean delicacy) and earlier Cake from Spinneys Confectionery was relishing.

Adult games and Raffle Draw was conducted by President Clifford, Accountant Sunil D’Souza, Joint Secretary James D’Sa and Cultural Secretary Rita Rodrigues. 1st Prize of the raffle draw, Kuwait – Bombay Air Ticket (Kuwait Airways Flight) was won by Pearl Rebecca D’Mello. Vincent Andrade excelled in the highest number of raffle sale.







Incumbent Vice President Jessie D’Cruz in her Vote of Thanks appreciated the support of members, committee members, sponsors and all those who contributed in making this celebration impressive.

Housie Housie was conducted by James, Clifford, Anil and Valerian. The celebration drew to a close at 5.30 pm with the breathtaking baila music from DJ Black Out, performance par excellence.

The trio of Jessie, James & Rita compered this celebration magnificently.
