Kundapur, Aug 16: A person who was serving under the Karnataka health department for the last five years allegedly committed suicide at his quarters at Devalkunda here on Saturday August 15. The incident came to light on Sunday August 16.
The deceased has been identified as K Kiran Kumar (27), son of ASI Kencharappa of Chitradurga. He reportedly committed suicide over a love failure.
Kiran was serving as junior health inspector at Devalkunda primary health centre and was residing in the government quarters. He was found hanging in his room.
Kiran got a job in the health department in 2010 and was appointed to serve in the Gangolli health centre here. From the past one year, he was rendering service as junior health inspector in Devalkunda primary health centre. The quarters he was residing in is located adjacent to the centre.
It is said that he was in love with a local girl for the last one year, but she did not reciprocate. August 15 being a holiday on account of Independence Day, he stayed in the quarters and at night hanged himself as the girl he loved reportedly rejected him.
On Sunday morning, an ASHA worker who wanted a blood test done called Kiran on his phone, but there was no response. She then called a health assistant at Gangolli, who in turn tried to contact Kiran. As there was no response for a long time, they came to Devalkunda health centre quarters and on breaking open Kiran's door, they found him hanging.
Byndoor MLA K Gopal Poojary visited the spot.
Kundapur SI Nasir Hussain came to the spot and registered a case.
