Udupi, Aug 17: In a happy news for people in the coastal region, state-owned KSRTC has decided to start its popular Flybus service between Manipal and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru. The bus will halt Udupi and Mangaluru too.
As per a notification on its website, KSRTC will start the Flybus service from August 20. From Bengaluru the bus will depart at 10 pm and reach Manipal at 7 am the next day, while from Manipal the bus will depart at 9 pm and reach Bengaluru at 6 am the next day.
Sources said that the fare per adult passenger will be Rs 1,100 from Udupi/Manipal and Rs 1,000 from Mangaluru to KIA.
The Flybus is already operating between KIA and Mysuru, for which the fare is Rs 790.
The Flybus is a luxury Volvo with multi-axle chassis. It has inbuilt pantry, a chemical toilet, entertainment with over 70 channels, artificial leather seats with more legroom, GPS, Wi-Fi and other features.
Moreover, for the convenience of air passengers bound for KIA, it will also have live display of flight timings. The bus will accomodate 40 passengers at a time.
KSRTC decided to start the service from Manipal and Mangaluru chiefly in view of the fact that many students from other states studying here catch flights to their hometowns from Bengaluru, as Mangaluru airport is not directly connected to most north Indian and other states.
