Assam observes Sadbhavana Diwas


Guwahati, Aug 20 (IANS): Assam on Thursday observed Sadbhawana Diwas on the occasion of the 71st birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.

At a function at the Secretariat here, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi administered the Sadbhavana Diwas pledge to government officials, a statement said.

Later, the chief minister led the secretariat officials in offering floral tributes to the former prime minister who was assassinated by a Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suicide bomber while campaigning for parliamentary elections in 1991.
