The also marks the end of the five-year term of the city corporators, with elections due within a couple of months.

The first in the line is the foundation-stone laying ceremony for concreting the road from Lalbagh to Bejai circle at 3 pm. The project costs an approximate Rs 2.30 crore.

An hour later, at 4 pm, is another similar foundation-stone laying ceremony for concreting the road, this time at Juma Masjid in Bunder. The project will cost about Rs 50 lac.

The mayor will also lay the foundation stone for the proposed concreting of Kankanady Maidan, at a cost of Rs 20 lac. The programme will be held at 5 pm.
