Mangalore, June 17: Project Director of KUDCEMP J R Lobo has assured of completion of drinking water project undertaken by KUDCEMP by December 2007 here, at the KDP Meeting on Saturday, June 16.
Speaking at the Meeting held under the presidentship of district minister-in-charge B. Nagaraj Shetty, he said the land acquisition process for laying pipelines was almost done. The Southern and Western Railways had already granted permission for laying pipelines near Padil. Only in the case of Mangalore all pipelines had been laid, he averred.
In case of Ullal too where water supply pipeline is to be laid across the river Nethravathi, the pipeline tender after approval, had been send to ADB. Once it approves the tender, the financial bids will also be opened he said.
As regards waste management, Lobo said the unit of the same at Vamanjoor was almost complete and will soon be handed over to MCC. The staff was trained to handle the dumping yard. He wanted the MCC to make plans for its maintenance. He further added that the compost plant was ready too. This waste management unit is in fact the first of its kind in India.
