Mangaluru, Aug 24: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Monday August 24 organized a massive protest at Moodbidri against cattle trafficking and illegal slaughterhouses.
Addressing the gathering at Rajiv Gandhi commercial complex, RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat said, "The cow which remains benevolent throughout its life is revered in India. Hinduism considers cow as holy, but some people inhumanly slaughter cows for meat. Those who look after cows with deep affection despite financial difficulties are robbed of their cows at sword-point by those indulging in cattle trafficking.
"Illegal slaughterhouses are mushrooming indiscriminately in urban as well as rural areas. The state Congress government which supports criminals is also trying to control the police department, as a result of which cases are being filed against protectors of cattle instead of cattle traffickers. When illegal slaughterhouses are raided, the people who are caught falsely claim that they are rearing cattle for agriculture and manage to escape the law. But the police should understand their real intent and take strict action," Prabhakar Bhat said.
"All Hindus must teach a good lesson to politicians who use the word 'Hindu' in a communal way. Hinduism does not encourage violence. We will continue our struggle against those who indulge in violence and those who support acts of violence," he asserted.
VHP executive president Jagadish Shenava said that police should take stringent action against those who shout slogans in support of Pakistan.
Bajrang Dal leader Sharan Pumpwell, regional Go Rakshak Pramukh Dinesh Pai, Bhujanga Kulal, Vasudeva Bhat, Bajrang Dal Udupi convener Sunil K R, VHP leader Vishwanath Prabhu and many others were present.
Prior to the protest, hundreds of people marched in a rally from Thousand Pillar Basadi to Rajiv Gandhi commercial complex.
