Udupi, Jun.19: The traffic was disrupted for more than one and half hour, after a eucalyptus tree fell on National Highway 17, between Kaup and Muloor, on Tuesday, Jun.19, afternoon.

Traffic was piled up in either side of national highway 17 as the tree fell at around 1-30 p.m. It was restored when Kaup police personnel arrived at the spot and cleared the road with the help of locals.

There are several dried up trees along the national highway 17 which pose a danger to traffic and public property.  The locals blame the forest department, for not taking any action though it has been brought to their notice long ago.

Meanwhile even the public works department which is supposed to look into this matter seriously especially before the arrival of monsoons too seems not bothered.  In the last one week three tree have fallen on the highway but concerned officials and departments are yet to wake up from their slumber, pointed a rickshaw driver while speaking to this correspondent.
