Sugababes singer Jade Ewen reports bankruptcy

London, Aug 27 (IANS): Former Sugababes singer Jade Ewen has reprtedly declared bankruptcy after owing thousands of pounds to taxman.

Ewen, who replaced singer Keisha Buchanan in the Sugababes band in September 2009, is believed to have run into trouble when the band went on a break in 2012 to pursue their own projects and never got back together.

“Jade put her all into her music but sadly things simply haven’t gone well, she joined the Sugababes full of optimism and had high hopes given the band were very much established in the charts. But it seems she fell victim to their shelf life expiring,” The Sun quoted a source as saying, reports mirror.co.uk.

After the original member of the band, Mutya Buena declared bankruptcy, Ewen too has fallen for it.

Other pop stars who have been left bankrupt include singers Duncan James, Simon Webbe and Anthony Costa from Blue, Shane Filan from Westlife and Jo O’Meara and Paul Cattermole from S Club 7.
