Dissident AAP leader protests against Delhi government

New Delhi, Sep 1 (IANS): Dissident AAP legislator Pankaj Pushkar on Tuesday protested to draw Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government's attention over "neglect and substandard treatment" being meted out to the Sangam Vihar Wazirabad unauthorised colony.

"I do not have problem with my party's government but it's the people of Sangam Vihar who have to suffer the negligence of the government," Pushkar said while protesting at Sangam Vihar, which falls under his Timarpur constituency.

"People reside in this unauthorised colony, without drains or basic amenities. People die here out of dengue and our government is not responding," he said.

Pushkar said the administration was not paying attention to it, and as a public representative it was his responsibility to tell the government to ponder the problem.

"I don't think I am doing anything against anyone. This question was raised twice in the state assembly, but it went unanswered," he added.

Taking a dig at the Delhi government for extravagance over advertisement, he said the government was not an advertising agency. "If we can spend so much money on advertising, we should try spending to save lives in city."

He also submitted a memorandum, addressed to chief minister, to the visiting Tehsildar at the protest site. He has demanded from the chief minister to pay attention towards the condition of Sangam Vihar.

"If I do not get a reply from the chief minister till September 5, I will go to chief minister's house to meet him along with the residents of the colony and table our demands," Pushkar said.
