Udupi, June 25: ‘Kannada medium students should get themselves ready to compete with the English medium students,’ Barakur Sudhakar Shetty, an industrialist now living in Mumbai, opined.
He was speaking at a programme organized to distribute free uniforms, books, and school bags to students of Shrimati Rukmini Shedthi Memorial National Higher Primary School, Haradi near here where he had done his schooling.
He further said that effective teaching right from primary school is the only way to create a responsible society in the changing times.
A water purifier donated by Rajendra Ganiga, an industrialist of Bangalore, was handed over to the school on the occasion.
B K Hegde, a member of Udupi ZP, B Shantarama Shetty, president of Barkur GP, Savita D’Souza, project officer of Dharmasthala Rural Development Project, A Subbayya, retired officer of Vijaya Bank were present.
