Set up more multiplexes: Bengal film industry to Mamata


Kolkata, Sep 2 (IANS): A delegation led by national award-winning actor Prosenjit Chatterjee on Wednesday urged West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to reopen shut cinema halls and set up more multiplexes in the state to boost Bengali cinema.

Chatterjee said that in order to showcase Bengali feature films to a wider audience, more multiplexes and screening slots should be facilitated.

"Cinema halls are shutting down and the number of multiplexes is low. In other cases, we do not get the timings for Bengali films," Chatterjee told the media after the meeting at the state secretariat Nabanna.

The chief minister has assured help.
