Dharwad, Sep 2: Police on Wednesday released the sketches of two suspected killers of renowned Kannada writer and scholar Prof M M Kalburgi who was killed on August 30.
As per reports, the suspects were seen by Kalburgi's wife.
Karnataka government has decided to hand over the case to CBI. CID is investigating the case until it is taken over by CBI.
Kalburgi, 77, was shot in the forehead from close range when he opened the main door of his house in Kalyan Nagar suburb. The two suspected killers knocked on the door of the deceased writer and called him 'Sir' before killing him.
The incident sent shock waves across the state, with writers, critics and activists staging protests and demanding a thorough probe into the case. A youth identified as Bhuvith Shetty from Bantwal, said to be the co-convener of Bajrang Dal Bantwal unit, was arrested after he posted a tweet 'justifying' Kalburgi's murder and warning that Prof K S Bhagwan would be 'next'. He was later released on bail.
