Bengaluru, Sep 2: In a major initiative, all the 30 Zilla Panchayat offices in Karnataka will go paperless or to be more precise become e-offices by January next year.
All the files and documents in the Zilla Panchayat offices would be accessible to officers and staff members at the click of a button after the ZP offices become e-offices.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Karnataka’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister H K Patil said the Udupi Zilla Panchayat has already become paperless and is first in the entire State to be so.
Dakshina Kannada and Gadag ZPs would soon transform into paperless offices, the minister said.
Under the system, it would be possible to know the number of days a file was with a particular staff member and why it was with them.
All the officers and staff members in the Zilla Panchayats had been trained to work under the new system.
The new system would put an end to unnecessary delays, the minister said.
