Bangalore, Jun 30: She stole the hearts of many a young man with her perfect portrayal of the ‘desirable other woman’ in Kannada comedy flick Rama Shama Bhama, and then went on to give a sizzling performance in Hindi comedy Garam Masala which earned her the sobriquet ‘Spicy Daisy’ from the media.
After a sabbatical of 7 months, Daisy Bopanna is back in action on the silver screen. Her latest Kannada movie ‘Satyavan Savitri’ directed by Ramesh Arvind who had also directed Rama Shama Bhama, is all set to hit theatres this week.
It was after her cameo in the movie Aishwariya that she suffered from a vertebral dislocation which forced her to stay away from the cameras. She even underwent a surgery and was put through the paces of physiotherapy.
In an exclusive interview to Daijiworld, the actress says that she is now fully fit and rearing to go. ‘I am even ready to do vigorous dance numbers,’ says the actress who acted in more than 150 advertisements before making her foray in to Bollywood with Priyadarshan’s Garam Masala.
‘I have been looking forward to the release of the movie. I have worked very hard on my fitness and I am glad that the efforts have paid off. It’s great to be back!’ she says.
An alumna of Aurobindo School, Daisy is a gradute in Fine Arts. Now living in Mumbai, the glamourous actress, who is usually choosy about her work, has also signed another Hindi movie titled ‘Toss,’ said to be a thrilling murder mystery.
Whoever said Sandalwood does not produce great actors like their counterparts in Tamil and Malayalam need only to look at Daisy Bopanna. Surely, the young actress is well on her way to join the illustrious league of south-indian actresses who have made an indelible mark in Indian cinema.
