Udupi: Minister Abhaychandra Jain inaugurates Yuva Shakti Kendra

Udupi, Sep 13: “Cash prizes amounting to Rs 4.5 crore have been distributed so far to encourage sports activities in the state,” said Karnataka sports minister Abhaychandra Jain after inaugurating the Yuva Shakti Kendrabuilt at a cost of Rs 15 lac at First Grade College, Tenkanidiyur on Friday September 12.





The programme was organized in order to implement the ‘Rajya Yuva Neethi’ by the district administration, zilla panchayat, youth empowerment, and district sports department, Udupi, under the aegis of Tenkanidiyur College.

Jain further said, “This is the first scheme for promoting national and international sports champions.”

He added that all required facilities have been given for all colleges in the state to improve sports among youths. “The department is trying to use funds properly through the college development committee while purchasing sports equipment. Students’ power is the state’s power,” he added urging the students to cultivate leadership qualities.

District-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the gymnastic room while MLA Pramod Madhwaraj inaugurated the gym equipment.

Principal of the College Dr Niketana gave the keynote address. Assistant director Roshan Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering and Ramchandra proposed the vote of thanks. Jayakumar Belkale,Thenkanidiyur village panchayat president , Janardhan Thonse, president, town planning authority, and Dr Gananath Ekkar were present.
