Jaipur, Oct 17: Two women have reportedly developed kidney-related complications following Cesarean deliveries at the New Medical College Hospital in Rajasthan’s Kota, raising fresh concerns about post-delivery care and patient monitoring.
One of the patients, Reshma, was shifted to a private hospital after her condition deteriorated and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU). The second patient, Anita, has been admitted to the ICU at the hospital’s Super Specialty Block.

According to reports, Reshma underwent a Cesarean section at the hospital on Wednesday. Her health subsequently worsened, prompting her family to transfer her to a private facility for further treatment. No further verified update on her current condition was available.
Anita has also reportedly developed kidney-related problems following her delivery and is receiving treatment at the hospital’s Super Specialty Block.
The latest cases have brought back memories of a similar incident at the same hospital nearly five months ago, when 12 new mothers reportedly developed kidney failure after Cesarean deliveries, resulting in five deaths.
The recurrence of kidney-related complications has raised questions about the possible causes of the patients’ deteriorating conditions, including treatment protocols, medications and post-operative monitoring.
However, the precise cause of the latest cases has not yet been established. It also remains unclear whether the two cases are connected to the earlier incident or have separate causes.
Further medical assessment and a thorough investigation will be required to determine whether the complications are linked to medication, surgical or post-operative factors, underlying medical conditions or other causes.
Until the findings are available, it would be premature to attribute the cases to any particular drug, treatment protocol or lapse in hospital care. The immediate priority remains the treatment of both women and a detailed examination of the circumstances surrounding their illnesses.
