Udupi, Sep 13: The two-day Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan Yojana (RGKA) district level rural and Dasara tournament - 2015-16 was inaugurated at Mahatma Gandhi district stadium, Ajjarkad, Udupi, on Saturday September 12.

District-in-charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the event by releasing balloons and said, “Coastal boys and girls have a flair for sports. This is the best platform for exhibiting their skills. I hope all the children shine in the national-level tournaments.”

Udupi MLA Pramodh Madhwaraj said, “The sports department is encouraging most games by providing a well-equipped stadium for Udupi district. Except two pending works, the stadium has all the required facilities. If children use the ground every day, it will be worth its construction.”

P Yuvaraj, president, CMC Udupi, Prakash Kodavoor, president, District Badminton Association, Ida D’Souza, and Dinesh Putran were among those present.
