Udupi, Sep 14: Mamma Agro Industries and Mamma Packaging were inaugurated in a ceremony held at Neelavara, Brahmavar, here on Sunday September 13.
District incharge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake inaugurated the industry by lighting the lamp, while award-winning actress Prema released the product of Mamma Agro industries to the market on the occasion.
In his inaugural speech, Sorake highlighted the need for such industries to enhance development of the area. "Employment opportunities increase due to such industries. There are some industries in our district whose turnover crosses more than Rs 300 crore and all these are small scale industries," he said.
"We Udupi'ites started banking with some money and today the banking sector is worth thousands of crores. We started hotels all over the world but somehow we lack such facilities in our native place. But I am confident that very soon, we might find all these facilities in our backyard.
"It is a matter of pride to all Udupi people that we are leaving our footprints in each and every sector and the opening of this industry is a landmark achievement towards making our native place a developed city," he added.
"Let the product from this industry reach as many as possible and may this industry become a successful business entity in the days to come," he wished.
Kannada cine actors and actresses Prema, Neetu, Jai Jagadish, Padmaja Rao, Anantha Velu, Mandeep Rai, Tanuja, Meenakshi, director Gireesh and other celebrities were part of the launching ceremony.
All the cine stars also wished for the success of this new venture.
Purushotham Shetty of Ujwal Developers, Udupi, Sarita Santhosh, president, Power Platform of woman entrepreneurs, Meera Laetitia B Aranha, general manager, Karnataka Bank, Mangaluru, Ramananda Nayak, joint director, District Industries Centre, Manipal, B Suprasad Shetty, president, Vishva Hindu Parishad, Udupi, Asha, president, Neelavara gram panchayat and managing partners Lakshmeesha Shetty, Malathi Lakshmeesha Shetty and Raguram Madhyastha were also present on the occasion.
Products like Mamma Chakki Atta, Mamma Ragi Flour, Mamma Special Suji, Mamma Rice Rava and many more from Mamma Agro Industries will be available to the people.
After the formal programme, Hejenada and team from Prashanth Dance Academy, Udupi, entertained the gathering.
Mythri sang the welcome song. RJ Prashana compered the programme and Raghuram Madhyastha proposed vote of thanks.
Mamma Agro Industries has been set up by Lakshmeesha Shetty and Malathi Lakshmeesha, who were earlier in the real estate field and built some fine apartments in Katpady and Udupi city. Recently they also launched a new venture with Raghuram Madhyastha at Brahmavar by the name of 'Minar Varna' which consists of commercial and residential space.
