Bannanje Raja, on expiry of custody, sent to Belagavi jail

Udupi, Sep 15: After he was produced at the court of the chief civil judge (senior division) and chief judicial magistrate here on Monday September 14, judge of the court, Nagajyoti K N, passed orders, extending the term of judicial custody of underworld fugitive, Bannanje Raja, till October 14.

The period of police custody awarded in cases relating to robbery of Anand Shetty, businessman from Santekatte Laxminagar here, and firing at Airody Jewellers here, had ended on September 14. Raja was taken to Belagavi jail after the judge extended his judicial custody. Senior public prosecutor, Shanti Bai, and investigating officer, Girish Kumar S, were present at the court.

As per the earlier order, Raja was required to be produced in Belagavi court on September 11, but this could not be done as he was in police custody here.
