M'luru: Engineers Day, Techno Week celebrations held at Hotel Ocean Pearl

Mangaluru, Sep 15: Engineers Day Celebration 2015 was an occasion to mark the 155th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna awardee M Vishveshvaraya and inauguration of techno week 2015 held at Hotel Ocean Pearl here on Tuesday September 15.


















The programme began with the invocation and lighting of the lamp by the guests on the dais.

The programme was organized jointly by Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) Mangaluru centre and Ramco Cements Limited.

This year the 'Eminent Engineers Award 2015' was conferred upon engineers K I George and G R Rai. 'Anantha Mithra Kalbhavi Award' was conferred on engineer K S Arun Prabha.

Chief guest Venkatesh M, director, MRPL speaking at the occasion said, "Civil engineers require steel, cement and other materials to construct or build anything. When all these are put together human endeavors are fulfilled. M Vishveshwaraya was a good human being and that is how he could do so much for society. It is right to celebrate his birth anniversary. He was a legend. The minute a person becomes a legend, stories get associated. He did not use his official car to return home the day he retired. I have seen a clear change in Mangaluru ever since 1977. Today Mangaluru has developed a lot. I thank the organizers for inviting me." Venkatesh also delivered a presentation on MRPL.

Deputy general manger of Ramco Cements, Anil Kumar Pillai was the guest of honor and town planner of MCC. Dharmaraj delivered a presentation on smart city (Mangaluru).

Engineers T Vinayak Pai, chairman, Vijaya Vishnu Mayya, past chairman and advisor Techno Week 15, Anil Sebastian D'Souza, convener Techno Week 15, Premanand A, treasurer, P Ranganath Aithal, Imm past chairman and advisor Techno Week 15, Ajith Kumar, convener Techno Week 15, Mohammad Iqbal, secretary, Suraj Kumar A, convener Techno Week 15 were present.
