Bengaluru, Sep 17: Nine ministers from the current cabinet are set to lose their posts in the soon-to-be finalised cabinet expansion, it has been reliably learnt.
Srinivas Prasad, Shyamanur Shivashankarappa, Ambareesh, Kimmane Ratnakar, Qamarul Islam, Shivaraj Thangadagi, Abhayachandra Jain, Baburao Chinchansur and P T Parameshwar Naik are the nine ministers who are likely to lose their portfolios.
The reasons cited for the ‘removal’ of ministers are different like incompetency, health, district quota and ‘other’ reasons, such as hope of getting better and stronger posts in the posts.
After the tie up with JD(S) in BBMP mayoral election, major impediments for the cabinet expansion were removed. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself made a statement that cabinet will see an expansion by the month end. Party sources later said that it would be a cabinet expansion and not a reshuffle.
Some sources said either Dinesh Gundu Rao or Krishna Byre Gowda or both of them will have to move out from the cabinet as they are strong candidates for the post of president of the party. One of them definitely will get the most important post in the party.
The sources added that KPCC chief Parameshwar is likely to be included in the cabinet, and speaker Kagodu Thimmappa too may get a major cabinet post if Kimmane is removed as they belong to the same district. Ramesh Kumar, Vinay Kulkarni, Manohar Tahasildar, Mallikayya Guthedar, Malaka Reddy and K B Koliwada are a few of the candidates waiting in queue to join the cabinet depending on who moves out.
