Udupi: Sorake promises science research centre, industrial park at Belapu

Udupi, Sep 19: “A special initiative is being taken to construct the Mangaluru University Science Research Center and Industrial Park to make Belapu Grama a model in the state with regard to education and industry,” said Vinay Kumar Sorake, minister for urban development and district-in-charge minister.





He was speaking at Belapu Government Composite High School after inaugurating the ‘Anna Bhagya’, ‘Nirmala Bhagya’, and ‘Cycle Bhagya’ and other government projects and handing over of subsidy cheques, BPL cards and title deeds of sites.

“The government has thought of distributing almond powder with Ksheera Bhagya milk to school children as well as shoes and socks for Kannada medium school children along with school books,” he said.

Belapu grama panchayat president Dr Deviprasad Shetty who presided over the programme, said that the support, hard work and efforts of Sorake to help Belapu grama progress were notable.

Udupi Zilla panchayat member, president of standing committee of agriculture and industry Arun Shetty Padooru, DDPI Diwaker Shetty, donors Beerthi Gangadhar Bhandary and Sharik Hussain and grama panchayat vice-president Shobha Bhat conveyed their best wishes.

Belapu grama panchayat members Karunakar Shetty, Dinesh Poojary, Sharath Kumar, Paigam Banu, Noor Jahan, Vijayalaksmi Devadiga, Usha Vasu, school SDMC office-bearers Prakash Anchan and Mushtaq Ahmed were present.

Belapu Government Composite High School headmistress Ashalatha welcomed the gathering. Belapu grama panchayat development officer Appu Sherigar proposed the vote of thanks. Teacher Hithesh Kumar compered the programme.
