Mangaluru, Sep 20: Health minister U T Khader inaugurated the National Consumer Fair at Karavali Utsav Grounds here on Saturday September 19.
The main attraction of the event this year is the replica of Taj Mahal of Agra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The replica was also inaugurated on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Khader said, "Director of the fair Gautam Agarwal has done a wonderful job. Let this consumer fair be helpful for the people of Mangaluru. Every year the consumer fair is organised and it enables consumers to meet their needs. The entertainment programmes are an added attraction."
MLC Ivan D'Souza said, "The 40-day Taj Expo has been organised here and I believe this will be a great opportunity for the people of Dakshina Kannada district. There are many games and programmes for children. Let this consumer fair become close to the hearts of the people."
District incharge minister Ramanath Rai, corporators Ashok D K, Latif, Praveen Alva and Shashidhar Hegde, Daijiworld 24x7 director Oniel D'Souza, 'Ice Cream' Tulu film actors R J Rupesh Shetty and Anvitha Rao, upcoming Tulu film 'Dabak Dabaa Aisa' actress Sheethal and others were also present on this occasion.
The replica of the Taj Mahal will be on display at the venue till November 1, during the National Consumer Fair. The consumer fair is open from 4 pm to 9 pm every day except on Sundays and holidays, when it is open from 11 am to 9 pm.
The Taj Mahal replica is 50 feet in height, with width and length of 100 feet and 150 feet. As many as 150 workers have worked for 30 days to make the replica of the monument.

The amusement section has a variety of fun rides.
