Mangaluru: Two youths killed in bike-tempo collision at Bajpe

Mangaluru, Sep 21: Two persons were killed in an accident at Hunasakatte, Bajpe here on Monday September 21.

The deceased has been identified as Shivamurthy (22), a resident of Badami, and Santosh (24) from Kushalnagar.

The accident took place when the bike in which the two were riding hit a tempo from behind, sources said. Both were killed on the spot.

They were riding from Bajpe towards Kateel when the accident took place.

It is learnt that the youths were residing at Meramajalu in Bantwal and were engaged in drilling work at a quarry.

    Most of the times, these motor cyclists die due to not wearing helmet. A small boy in our area told his father "Wear helmet and protect your head, since, you will not get a replacement like Lord Ganesha."

    People don't adhere to safety rules even after seeing losing lives. When this will end? these accidents have become norms. There seems to be no seriousness in district administration, police dept. etc? Traffic police should implement stringent rules especially for two wheeler riders. Proper safety signboards should be installed in various places, a mass road safety campaign should be the need of the hour.

    I always iterate and again iterating... we the public will tired of writing comments, RIP notes, suggestions, recommendations... but the authorities looks are decided to keep themselves mum and closed eyes. Or else what's the hell going on. everyday we see so many 2 wheelers dying on the road. yes, I agree it's 90 % because of the reckless driving of the 2 wheelerists. Does that mean we will let them die is it ? what's the cause and impact on other traffic on the road ? SO many times, because of these bloody 2 wheelers other vehicles dash each other and that joker will fly off from the spot. many times it happened for me also. seeing them coming havocly or so rash you either put immediate brake or you take sudden turn that you hit another vehicle. that's it. you both will be arguing and fighting and the joker who made this accident to occur being on reckless drive, will laugh at you and escape. So, it's too late for them to expect drive safely or follow traffic rules. it's a strong law and order required to put a brake on them. really. RTO / police keep roaming and catch these jokers then and there. stop them and penalize for reckless drive. then only they will learn a lesson. or else we will keep seeing many more deaths and accidents... it's not the time to take action... it's too late... at least now.

    While I drive in Mangalore I am scared of the Motor cycles because they drive helter skelter without wearing helmets. The motor bike people never follow traffic rules whatsoever.

    Moreover nobody have patience to stop his vehicle, the selfishness is so much the minds of the people are I have to move at any cost.

    Things were not the past.All roads in Bajpe,Kaikamba are very narrow but traffic density is alarmingly risen over the years.The number of two wheelers are increased manifolds compared last 5-6 years but infrastructure remains the same.Even while riding/driving through Kaikamba towards Bajpe is frightening as the two wheelers are so rash in driving and no control anywhere by authorities.
    These type of accidents are in common sight every where in DK/Udupi is really a reason for worry.
