Mangalore, Jul 11: A protest was held at KSRTC bus stand to oppose hike in KSRTC bus fares on Wednesday, July 11 morning.

Mangalore North Block Congress Committee organized this protest under the leadership of K Suresh Ballal, president of the Block. 

Suresh Ballal alleged that, the policies of JD (S)-BJP led state government are anti-citizen in nature. Hence, the government should change its policies, he urged.

Meanwhile, the traffic was affected for some time when the agitators stopped the buses at the bus stand. The police arrested the agitators and released them later.

KPCC spokesperson Kallige Taranath Shetty, former Mayors Krishnappa Mendon, Divakar, Shashidhar Hegde, Purandardas Kulur, Hilda Alva, former corporators Kamalaksha Salian, Kamalaksha Kundar, Padmanabha Amin, Abubakkar, Indira, Shalini Salian, Lancelot Pinto, Congress leaders Vishwas Das, Denis D’Silva, Gretta Rebello, Henry D’Souza and others were present during the protest.
