Karkala, Sep 22: ICYM Hirgan organized ICYM Karkala deanery level cricket and throwball tournament at Swaraj grounds, Karkala on September 20.

The programme started with invocation by Hirgan unit members. The tournament was inaugurated by Fr Joswy Fernandes vicar general of Karkala deanery by lighting the lamp.

Fr Sunil D’Silva, ICYM Karkala Deanery, director, Elsi D’Souza ICYM Karkala Deanery animator, Deanery office bearers Franklin Danthy and Lavita Saldhana were also present.

In total, eight teams for cricket and seven teams for throwball participated in the tournament. Boy’s cricket team from St Maria Goretti, Hirgan and girl’s throwball team from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Nakre were the winners of the tournament. Boy’s cricket team from St Lawrence Church, Attur and Girls throwball team from Lourdes Church, Kanajar were the runners up of the events.

The valedictory function was presided over by Michael Rodrigues. Sasthan, addressed the youths and gave away the prizes during valedictory programme.
