Puttur, Sep 25: Students of Vivekananda School and College have brought laurels to their hometown, winning a whopping 19 gold medals and a silver in the national-level swimming competition held recently in Madhya Pradesh.
Noothan won three gold medals - in 100 metres butterfly stroke, and in 100 and 200 metres backstroke.
Aditya Shetty won two gold medals - in 100 metres freestyle and 100 metres breaststroke.
Rathan bagged gold medals in 50 metres butterfly, 100 metres freestyle and 800 metres freestyle, while Trishul won the gold in 50 metres backstroke, and silver in 50 metres breaststroke.
Rakshith won the gold in 50, 100 and 200 metres backstroke, while Shrilaxmi Shetty bagged the gold medals in 50 and 100 metres breaststroke and 200 metres individual medley.
Shilpa secured three gold medals - in 50, 100 and 200 metres backstroke, while Shreya earned the gold om 50 metres butterfly stroke.
These 8 swimmers are members of Puttur Aquatic Club. They train at Balawana swimming pool under Vasanth Kumar B, Partha Varanashi and Niroop G R.
They will also participate in the national-level school games swimming competition to be held in Kolkata on November 2 this year.
