Lions Club district awards: This ceremony organized by the international association of Lions club will be held at the Aloysius college on July, 15. According to the club governor Dr. B Uday Shankar Shet the diamond supreme excellence, golden supreme  and silver supreme awards will be given to the members from DK, Hassan, Chickmagalur and Kodagu districts. More than Rs. 3.38 crore worth of services had been  rendered in the districts, he added. 

Computer laboratory opened: Dr Madhav Kamath renowned surgeon inaugurated a sophisticated computer lab at the Canara primary school in Urwa. It has all the modern technologies like a computer lab and is also well-equipped with 32 computers donated by parents and school management. The cost of the project was Rs. 15 lakh.

Accupressure camp: This camp was inaugurated at the Sharada Vidyalaya by MLC Captian Ganesh Karnik, under the aegis of the Devedra Vora Accupressure Prathistana. The basic purpose of the camp was that one has to work in tune with nature. And that an  imbalance between human organs can lead to diseases.

Free eye check-up camp: This camp will be organized tomorrow by the Catholic sabha, Bejai, Bejai yuvajanara sangha alongwith Yenepoya medical college, Derlakatte at the Bejai church hall between 9 am to 12 pm. Joseph Nazrath, the sabha president said six experts would conduct the camp. Transport facilities will be arranged for patients who would have to visit the Yenepoya hospital from Bejai church. 

Advocate appointed: Advocate A C Kishor Kumar was appointed as notary under the Notaries act by the centre recently.

Naval training camp: An advanced two-month training-cum-orientation camp for cadets of Mangalore university will be organized by the NCC, 5 Karnataka naval wing as per their press release. This will consist of swimming, rowing, signaling, march past and firing. Around 600 cadets will take part in this camp and successful cadets will be selected for the new camp held at Vishakapattinam from Oct 9 to 19, 2007.

Alva’s Nudisiri’: Alva’s education foundation, Moodbidri will organise ‘Alva’s Nudisiri’, a national-level conference on kannada language and culture, between November 30 and December 2, on the premises of Vidyagiri Sundari Ananda Alva Mahavidyalaya, as per a press release.
