Udupi, Sep 25: Sri Vishwapriya Theerta Swamiji inaugurated Nutan Credit Co-operative Society near Teacher Training School on Friday September 25.

Fr Fedrik Mascarenhas, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi inaugurated the safe locker room, while Yashpal Suvarna, CMC member operated the computer as a symbolic gesture.

Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, Admar Math in his message said, "The co-operative society transfers money between clients. Confidence, honesty and faith are very important in financial matters. Udupi is known as a financial hometown as it is a centre for various finance related concerns”.

He also said, "This society must work as a bridge between itself and the society. The movement of money should not be in one direction alone. The co-operative society has to also focus on financing the poor and the needy keeping ‘Ananda mata’ as their motto.

Swamiji urged the society to maintain its credibility among its clients and he said, "Do not focus on making interest rate on loans the only priority. As the proverb suggests- do not go after money."

Addressing the gathering, Fr Fedrik Mascarenhas said, "God loves a cheerful giver and blesses us. Faith and honesty are the backbone of an institution. Only then can people place their trust on a service oriented organization."

"We must respect God. Without God’s blessing, all attempts will be in vain," he added.

Fr Mascarenhas symbolically distributed security deposit letters to the first depositors.

Jayakar Shetty Indrali, chief manager of Badagubettu Credit co-operative Society, Udupi, Kishan Hegde, Kolkebailu, president of District Co-operative Union Udupi, Praveen Nayak, assistant officer of Co-operative Union, R Satish Pai, owner of Vijay Complex, Sumithra R, president, Baptist Dias, vice president and others were present at the occasion.

Ganesh Sherigar, deputy manager welcomed the gathering.
