Mangalore, Jul 15: 'Teachers should behave with a certain amount of  responsibility with the students because they learn from your behaviour and attitude', advised the Udupi district high school headmaster and pre-university college principal’s association president Vasant Shetty, to the teachers here on Saturday, July 14.

He was speaking at the educational conference organized by Mangalore city high school headmasters’ and pre-university college principals' association in the Milagres PU College.  He said that 'the teachers should be careful in their behaviour in their presence and that they should acquire the capacity of retaining the concentration of the students inside the classroom, as young minds are attracted by a number of variables in today’s ‘confusing society’.

Further he said that 'the teachers have a key role to play here, in moulding the tender minds into becoming responsible citizens. In today’s society, the educational scenario is full of ambiguities, and on the other hand the society itself is filled with distraction.'

Addressing the teachers, Shetty said 'teachers are like leaders for children and hence they have to play the role of strengthening good culture among the students. So they should take up the leadership role of moulding the students. Leadership of a person reflects in five aspects namely, the personality, dress, speech, education and behaviour'.

On this occasion St Joseph’s engineering college director Fr Valerian D’Souza presided over the function. Retired members of the association, merit students of SSLC in 2007 and the heads of the institutions with cent per cent results were felicitated on this occasion.

Secretary Fr Lawrence D’Souza and newly elected president Usha Ballal were present.
