Monthi Fest: Konkan Organization of Toronto

Toronto, Sep 29: "Sakkad Sangatha Melyam, Sakkad Lagi Sariyan, Aamche Taale ek Karyan, Ani Moriyek Hogalsiyan" - This is exactly how the spirit of Monthi fest was celebrated by Konkan Organization of Toronto, Canada. More than 350 people gathered to celebrate the Feast of Nativity of Our Lady at St Barnabas Church, Scarborough.

The mass was celebrated in Konkani by Fr Francis Noronhna co-celebrant was Fr Edwin D’souza, Fr Rudolph Pinto, Fr Valerian Serrao and was assisted by Deacon Terrance Rebello. The spiritual experience was made complete by the Konkani choir, altar servers, Knight of Columbus.

The Mass celebration was followed by a social gathering in the Malvern community hall. MC for the occasion was Flavian Pinto. The function started with showering flowers to Our Lady. The blessed Nouve was served. The community was welcomed by a cultural dance performance. The children and the youth put together dance performances and sang Konkani songs. There was a Skit by the committee members. A traditional dinner was served along with voarn for dessert.

Edward Lewis was awarded a scholarship for his university. Philip Fernandes was given the Blessed Mother Teresa Award for his social work in the community.

The Feast day ended with laughter, joy, wonderful memories and a feeling of being home away home.
