48-year-old man from Moodbidri drowns in Israel

Mangaluru, Oct 5: In a tragic incident, Yashodhara Acharya (48) from Moodbidri died in Israel when a powerful wave engulfed him when he was clicking snaps at the seashore.

Yashodhara had gone to the seashore for recreation on September 23 with his brother Rathnakar Acharya and others as they were on holidays. 

When Yashodhara was clicking photos, a huge wave pulled him and an Israeli citizen to the sea. The coast guards immediately lifted brought them to the shore and admitted them to the hospital. However, Yashodhara had already breathed his last by then. The Israel citizen was saved.

Yashodhara Acharya was running Navarathna Dye works and was the vice-president of goldsmiths' welfare forum in Moodbidri. He had gone to Israel four months ago.

He is survived by his mother, wife and two children.

His body was brought to Kallabettu and his last rites was performed on Sunday.
