“The district authority has to give first priority to local contractors. The grama panchayats has to give up imposing tariff on sand. The district authority has to take immediate action against temporary shortage of sand and collecting double charges on it and to make it available at cheaper prices. They must take stern action to control illegal transportation of sand to other districts and states,” demanded Shetty.
