Mangaluru, Oct 6: Fr Joseph Lobo, the parish priest of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail passed away on Tuesday, October 6.
Fr Joseph Lobo was 58. He hailed from Loretto near Bantwal.
Fr Joseph had gone to the bathroom at his residence at around 8.30 pm where he collapsed. He was rushed to a private hospital where was declared brought dead. The cause of death was massive heart attack.
Born on May 18, 1957 to Gregory and Elizabeth Lobo, Fr Joseph Lobo was ordained on April 19, 1983.
He served as assistant parish priest of Valencia from 1983 to 1985 and of Bejai for a year in 1985-'86, after which he took charge as parish priest of Permude. He served there till 1993, and then became the parish priest of Arva (1993-2000), Kolalgiri (2000-2002), Niddodi (2008-2015) and Derebail (from this year). Between 2002 and 2008, he served as procurator in diocesan office.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 8. Last respects can be paid between 2 to 4 pm at Holy Redeemer Church Derebail.
Funeral Mass will be held at 4 pm with Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza as the main celebrant.
