New Delhi, Jul 23:
Riding on her semi-final appearance in the Cincinnati Open last week, her best in the season so far, Sania Mirza climbed up three rungs to 35th in the latest WTA rankings issued on Monday.

Sania was beaten 2-6, 7-5, 3-6 by top seed Anna Chakvetadze of Russia in the last four at Cincinnati open. Sania, who won the doubles title partnering Bethanie Mettack of the US, her second this year, also moved up two places to 36th in doubles' individual rankings.

The Hyderabadi girl is now just four places short of her all time high ranking, World No. 31 which she attained in October 2005.

Justine Henin of Belgium still leads the overall rankings, followed by Russian Maria Sharapova. The top ten did not see much change. Only Russian Anna Chakvetadze jumped one place to seventh to exchange place with American Serena Williams.

Meanwhile, Sunita Rao slipped 18 places but remained the second highest-ranked Indian woman at 256th. Shikha Uberoi also lost five places to slip at 334 while veteran Rushmi Chakravarthi's place was unchanged at 388.
