Kundapur, Oct 10: In an incident which has come to light with a delay of about three months, a young lady was reportedly raped by a person when she was alone at home. She was threatened by him of dire consequences if she revealed about this development to anybody, it is said.

Relating to this incident, 36-year-old Suresh Naik stands arrested. Naik, a resident of Madkalakeri in Heroor near Byndoor, had committed this crime in Heroor village, as per the complaint.

Suresh Naik is married. After the said incident, marriage of the girl was engaged to be held with another youth. Naik, who came to know of it, contacted the would-be groom and told him about the rape. As a consequence, the engagement was cancelled.

As a result, the incident came into the open. Byndoor police have since registered a case against Suresh Naik. They arrested him and produced in the court, whereupon he was remanded to two weeks judicial custody.
