Mangaluru, Oct 11: Ave Maria Palliative Care observed International Hospice and Palliative Care Day, memorial service, and benefactor appreciation programme at its premises in Mangala Nagar, Kudupu, Vamanjoor here on Saturday October 10.

Fr Stephen Pereira, editor, ‘Naman Ballok Jesu’, who was the chief guest, blessed the occasion and said, "When we see death in a broader perspective, it is a journey from darkness to light. It is the door to one more life. Death is a natural process. Individuals have to go through all phases of life."

He lauded Ave Maria Palliative Care for its immense service to society and urged people to support such institutions financially or in various other ways possible. "Without any expectations, Ave Maria Palliative Care is serving the society by taking care of cancer patients, who cannot afford proper care in their last days," he added.

Fr Pereira also honoured various benefactors who helped the institution.

On this occasion, family members condoled the death of cancer patients by lighting candles and holy scriptures were read.

Dr Jessica Serrao, Dr Lavina Noronha, Celina Pereira, and others were present. Dr Serrao welcomed. Roshan Crasta compered the programme.
