Mangaluru, Oct 11: Konaje police on Saturday October 10 arrested a man at Malaru near Inoli for allegedly sexually harassing a 14-year-old boy.
Arun Rodrigues (32) from Pajir is the person arrested.
The victim stayed at Malaru Madrasa where he was obtaining his education. It is alleged thar Arun came to there on Saturday afternoon saying that he wanted to visit the mosque. Moilar, who is in charge of the mosque, allowed to him to visit the mosque and went out. At this point Arun took the victim to his house by his bike.
When Moilar came back to the mosque, the boy was not there. He started searching for him, but did not find him. When he asked the neighbours, they said that the boy had gone with Arun. When Moilar went to Arun’s house with four youths, his house was found locked. When they knocked on the door, Arun came out and told them that the boy was watching TV with him.
But when later Moilar took the boy to task for leaving the mosque and going out, the boy initially said that he was watching TV. Subsequently he admitted that he was sexually harassed by Arun. The victim said that Arun sexually harassed him with the promise of giving money and eatables.
The police arrested Arun and registered a case. A tense atmosphere prevailed for sometime as news of the arrest spread.
Arun is married and has two children.
