Mangaluru, Oct 11: Rosario Church ground here witnessed some exhilarating cricket action on Sunday October 11 as 'Rosario Premier League' was held for the youths of Rosario church.

MLA J R Lobo inaugurated the cricket tournament which was organised by Rosario Church Friends.

Six teams, namely Rosario Kings, Smile Cricketers, Crusade Brothers, Sunrisers Rosario, Pinto Panthers and Danica Cricketers comprising of nine players in each team, participated in the tournament.

MLA J R Lobo addressing the players said, "We can see cricket fever everywhere now. Everyone should play at least one sport in their lifetime. Participating in games and sports will keep you healthy and fit. Most of the youths today are busy in mobile phones, Facebook and TV. They have no time to speak to others. When we were small we used to sitt together to have dinner. But now the system has changed. Elders have to encourage their kids to take up sports."

Rosario parish priest Fr J B Crasta said, "Youths of our parish have worked hard to make this event successful. I can see professionalism in the youths. Cricket is not only for boys. It is a game for girls also. Youths must have a co-operative mind and work together as one unit."

Gladson Montiero welcomed the gathering.

Corporator Abdul Latif, parish vice president Dolphy D'Souza, Fr Paul and others were also present on this occasion.
