Bengaluru, Oct 12: Congress national vice president Rahul Gandhi's Karnataka visit may have helped the farmers to some extent. But as an ‘after effect' of his visit, two political developments have taken place.
The first development is a written complaint presented to AICC general secretary in-charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh regarding inefficiency at chief minister's office. The second development is the instruction by Digvijay Singh to KPCC president G Parameshwar to issue show-cause notices to 15 ministers who were absent during Congress Rahul Gandhi’s recent visit to Mandya and Haveri. Both these unrelated developments have become a headache for chief minister Siddaramaiah and will remain with him for some time.
20 legislators have signed a letter which was given to Digvijay Singh in which they have complained that due to the inefficiency of some of the officers working at chief minister’s office and also due to nepotism policies followed by them , more than 1000 files remain in limbo. Because of this, it has become very difficult to do even their routine works in their constituencies, the letter says.
The letter has mentioned some of the names of the officers attached to the CM’s office. The letters says that though the government took some good decisions for the people, they are not implemented due to the mentioned problems in the letter. The legislators have said that they have already complained to the chief minister regarding the matter, but he has not responded positively yet. Digvijay Singh has promised the legislators that he would discuss the matter with the CM and find a solution for the problem.
Meanwhile before taking any action on the letter, Digvijay Singh has asked Parameshwar to draft a different letter in the form of show-cause notice to be sent to the ministers who were absent during Rahul Gandhi’s visit. The state congress party as well as the chief minister had directed all the ministers to attend all functions of Rahul Gandhi.
Horticulture minister Shyamanur Shivashankarappa, small scale industries minister Satish Jarkiholi and textiles minister Babu Rao Chinchansur are some of the members of the ‘Absentee list’ of 15 ministers. They will receive the show-cause notices this week. Parameshwar has been asked to submit a detailed report at the earliest in this regard.
Rahul had visited the families of farmers who committed suicide in Mandya and Haveri on October 9 and 10.
