Mangaluru: Protest against Yettinahole project on Oct 15 - Activists urge public support

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru(DV)

Mangaluru, Oct 12: "Just as thousands supported the protest against Yettinahole project in Uppinangady last month, people of Mangaluru city too should join hands and support the 'rasta roko' and 'jail bharo' protest against the project to be held at 10.30 am on October 15 at Mahaveer circle," urged Dr Niranjan Rai, president of Netravati Nadhi Samrakshana Okkuta.

Addressing a press meet at Arya Samaj Bhavan here on Monday October 12, he said, "Political representatives like MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA Vasanth Bangera, senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary and others are supporting this cause, which is a good sign. Moreover, various organizations too have joined hands in this cause.

"We are not against providing water to Kolar but against the unscientific way of lifting the water by destroying the Western Ghats. We demand that the project be dropped," he said.

Activist Dinesh Holla said, "We have consulted all activists in all the taluks of the district. Various pro-environmental activists will take part in the protest in big numbers."

Activist M G Hegde said, "Various organizations and communities have supported this cause. Our struggle has even reached the government. Our campaign will go on till the government stop the project. In future also, the government should never take up any project without the consent of the people." He also said that protesters will block the highway for two hours.

All College Students' Association leader Dinakar Shetty, activist Shashidar Shetty, Rahim Uchil, Kateel Dinesh Pai, Anand Adyar, Shashiraj Shetty and others were present.

We must thank Sri Janardhana Poojary for raising voice against his own party leaders in the state who are supporting the anti people of DK.He has done a great job by briefing the ill effects of YHP to his party high command.Let Siddaramaiah under stand that DK people are not against people of Kolara or other places but worried about ill effects of the project to Managlore and nearby places.

Do not make the mistake of keeping Pujari on a pedestal. He will screw up the entire purpose. Remember the election times were instead of concentrating on something worthwhile, he questioned Modis marital status. and then you all know what happened.
