Mangaluru, Oct 13: Police personnel attached to Barke station in the city, on Monday October 12, arrested two persons. The two have been accused of driving a car haphazardly after getting drunk on M G Road here on the evening of Sunday October 11, and then assaulting a police constable who questioned them.
The arrested accused are Vivekananda Paul (38) from Urva in the city, and Kishore (38) from Bajpe. Vivekananda reportedly worked for a firm engaged in online trading as a software professional, but is unemployed as of now. Kishore worked for a medical equipment firm. On being produced them in the court, both were remanded to judicial custody.
When a police van carrying some persons for being produced before a judge at around 4.30 pm on Sunday, the policemen in this van found that a car was moving in a zigzag manner in front of their vehicle. They passed on this information to the police control room, whereupon a vehicle attached to Barke police station intercepted the errant car near Besant Circle. Both Vivekananda and Kishore, it is said, engaged in verbal altercation with police constable, Pradeep, and assaulted him, thus obstructing him from discharging his duties.
