China to protect intellectual property

Beijing, Oct 13 (IANS): China has issued a guideline on the protection of intellectual property to help startups, a media report said on Tuesday.

A guideline issued on Monday was mapped out by five government bodies including the State Intellectual Property Office and the finance ministry, the Global Times reported.

The country will explore more channels to realise the value of intellectual property, such as providing financial services and products for asset securitisation and patent insurance.

Banks and institutional investors are expected to provide loans for qualified startups, the guideline said.

It also demanded legal protection for investors.
