Mangaluru, Oct 14: Residents in an apartment building at Shanthi Bagh, Deralakatte on Tuesdayy October 13 filed a complaint with the police alleging that Dorina Maria Tauro, the manager of the building, has 'duped' them of lacs of rupees by failing to return their security deposits taken at the time of the lease agreement. The lease agreements have expired but the money has not been returned, they said.
It is learnt that Dorina was appointed as the manager for the building by the owner of building, who stays abroad. Dorina had reportedly taken lacs of rupees from the residents while giving the flats for lease on agreement. Speaking to daijiworld, Rajesh, a resident in one of the flats said, "I leased the flat after paying Rs 2 lac, which was refundable as per the agreement. After the lease agreement expired and I approached to get back the refundable amount, but she did not pay it back. I too have filed a complaint in the Ullal police stations." In fact, each of the affected families have filed separate complaints against Dorina, it is learnt.
The residents then approached the Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, whose woman wing leader Jyothika Jain approached the police commissioner's office demanding action in the case.
It is also alleged that the building owner has failed to maintain the drainage system and the panchayat has issued a notice in this regard.
