Mangaluru, Oct 14: The state high court (HC), on Tuesday October 13, stayed first information report (FIR) filed against former union minister, Janardhana Poojary, at Mangaluru.

The FIR relates to allegation of poll code of conduct violation. The single judge bench presided over by Justice Ratnakala, which heard the petition filed by Poojary seeking dismissal of the FIR filed against him, issued interim stay against the FIR.

A person named G V Rajashekhar had filed a criminal case in Mangaluru (north) police station, alleging poll code violation by Poojary, a Congress candidate during the 2014-15 Lok Sabha election from Dakshina Kannada constituency, during the campaign.

The policemen, who registered the FIR, had filed charge sheet in the court on January 21 this year. The court, which took up hearing in the case, had served summons on Poojary on March 2, which was challenged by aggrieved Poojary through a petition filed in HC.
