Mangalore, Jul 28: The Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Award for energy performance of refineries for 2006-07, has been bagged by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).  This award is conferred by the Centre of High Technology, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, says a press release from MRPL.

All refineries are first evaluated by the awards committee for their specific energy consumption and only after that recognition of a refinery’s annual energy performance is made and then the award is conferred.

In the press release R. Rajamani, managing director of MRPL, says that for 2006-07 MRPL’s “encon number” was 63.57 mbn, the lowest among all refineries. This was the fourth time that MRPL has won this award, he added.
